The impact of stress on your life can be overwhelming and make you feel like everything is falling on your shoulders. One thing you can do to help with your surroundings would be to start with your own dwelling by organizing and declutter around you. It has been proven to help bring clarity to your mental state by having a clean home.


Research is showing that the relationship between clutter and stress is correlated by high levels of cortisol. Cortisol is the stress hormone and higher levels lead to higher stress. A clean house also produces more positive thoughts and a level of calmness, where as, clutter and mess can bring on anxiety and sense of confusion. Studies show that too much in a surrounding can make it harder to focus and complete projects efficiently. Once you gain control of your environment and start the process people will have the feeling of accomplishment and help them focus better.


The best way to start the process of cleaning your home is to start small by choosing one area of a room and setting a timer. This helps to avoid the overwhelming feeling of too much at one time. Typically, when starting too much too fast, it feels like too much and we quit without any resolution. The timer helps give you a start time and finish time to come back to a little at a time. 


There are going to be times this process is not successful or you just don't feel like doing it and thats okay. Just know that the times you do complete a declutter task, you will feel accomplished, less stressed and not as overwhelmed.
