Electronics are made from valuable and recyclable resources that if disposed of correctly can take less energy to make new electronics from. Recycling electronic materials is also great for the greenhouse gas emissions and water and air pollution by not having to make new materials. In fact, it helps our air so much that Texas has take-back laws for manufacturers. Many manufacturers offer mail-back programs free of charge for items that still have valuable parts. To find out if your television or computer still has valuable parts for recycling or where to send your electronics, you can visit the following two websites:

Houston also provides two drive through drop off site locations at the North and South ESC. Residents can take their hazardous waste and electronic waste items to be disposed of safely. Items to drop off include the following and a full list can be found at houstontx.gov/solidwaste:
Computers, routers, laptops, DVD Players, fax machines, cell phones, printers, etc.
